French Avenue Azure Oud Review: Heavy Oud & Leather Beast Mode Scent

French Avenue Azure Oud is one of those fragrances that makes its intentions clear immediately. This is not a soft, easygoing oud. It is thick, dark, and intense, and I’m genuinely glad I tested this as a sample instead of committing to a full bottle.
If you’ve experienced French Avenue’s Cocoa Morado, the opening here will feel familiar—oud and leather hit hard from the very first spray, with no sweetness or fruit to cushion the impact.

How It Smells on Skin
Despite the fruity top notes listed, I don’t get fruit at the opening at all. Azure Oud opens immediately oud-forward, paired with heavy leather and smoky woods. It feels dense, almost syrupy in weight—but not sweet.
After about an hour, the oud does soften slightly. Whether that’s the fragrance calming down or simple nose fatigue is hard to say. In the dry down, there might be a faint hint of fruit—but it’s so subtle that I’m still not fully convinced it’s actually there.
What does remain consistent is the power.
